Biography

Tommi Anton Parzinger (1903–1981) – Austrian-American designer, an artist with a unique position in the history of 20th-century design. Born in Munich, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts there, and in the 1930s emigrated to New York, where he quickly gained a reputation as the creator of luxurious, hand-finished furniture and interior decorations. His style—combining classic elegance with modern simplicity and refined detailing—became a hallmark of high-end American modernism. In 1939, he founded Parzinger Originals, collaborating with New York's design elite and private clients, including Marilyn Monroe, Billy Baldwin, and Estée Lauder. He created furniture, lighting, and decorative objects with a distinctive use of lacquered surfaces, polished brass, and meticulous craftsmanship. His works are sought after by collectors today and presented in the most important catalogs of 20th-century design.
