Biography

Bogdan Bartłomiej Nowakowski (1887-1945), illustrator, cartoonist. He studied in Warsaw, Lviv and Munich. Already before World War I, he began collaborating with numerous satirical magazines, where he published political and social caricatures. He enjoyed using female figures in his work; he was fascinated by the finesse of their silhouettes and the gracefulness of their movements, both in small drawings and multi-figure compositions with a fantasy-fairytale atmosphere. He created illustrations for numerous books, including children's books, and designed posters.
