Biography:

Aleksander Jędrzejewski was born on September 1, 1903 in Żytomierz (Ukraine), as the son of Piotr and Halina née Piwocki. In 1921, he began painting studies under the supervision of prof. Konrad Krzyżanowski, and then in the years 1923-1928 he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw (from 1932 Academy of Fine Arts) in the studio of prof. Tadeusz Pruszkowski. In 1925, he became a member of the Brotherhood of Saint Luke and, together with this group of artists, he participated in numerous exhibitions in Poland: Warsaw, Poznań, Bydgoszcz, Kraków - from the first exhibition of the Brotherhood at Zachęta in Warsaw - 1928 to the last pre-war exhibition - 1939) and abroad, including: London, Venice (Biennale, 1932), Berlin (Olympics, 1936), Geneva, Buffalo, Milwaukee, Baltimore, Cleveland, Syracuse, Chicago, Moscow, Riga, Tallinn, Munich, Frankfurt am Main, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Königsberg, Stockholm, London, Brighten, Manchester, Nordhampton, Eastborn, Amsterdam, Pittsburg, Rapperswil and New York (World's Fair, 1939).
