Biography:

Antoni Trzeszczkowski – battle painter, active in Częstochowa and later in Warsaw. Participant in the defensive war of 1920. His paintings, thematically and formally referring to the paintings of Wojciech Kossak, are characterized by good drawing and the freedom and dynamics of perfectly captured horses and fighting soldiers in motion. He painted military and battle scenes; most often depicting episodes from Napoleon's campaigns or the war of 1920. He attached great importance to the study of uniforms and military equipment, of which he was an expert. He was also involved in illustration; his drawings were published, among others, in "The Book of Infantry Glory" (published in Warsaw 1939).
